Over the past five years Tex and I would like to think you've gotten to know us pretty well. You know we hate hipsters , love Ramshackles , and that we have a preppy streak a mile wide. And that preppy mile of ours? It's paved in grosgrain. Ever since the tragic shredding of my favorite ribbon belt from high school (faulty D-rings, it's still hard to talk about) I've been on the hunt for something new to love. And I'm happy to report that I've found it. About a week or two ago we received a package from our giveaway partner in crime and, kids, its contents have brought us nothing but joy. We've gone on record before about our affinity for Chesapeake Ribbons , but now we're walking the walk, as well. I've worn my new favorite belt every single day since receiving it, and not one of those days has passed without getting at least one compliment on it. I'm telling you, this stuff is cute. So what did we get? Glad you asked. We'll star...

the examined life (worth living)

We make a lot of jokes here at TCKiT, about hipsters and sweaters and drinks made with MD 20/20 , but today let's do something different. In fact, let's do something nice . 1. First up are the TED talks , and if you don't know them, then you should. The most brilliant, innovative, interesting, coolest people ever to live in our modern world get on stage with just a microphone, a powerpoint and 5 - 15 minutes to rock your world. Among the better-known honorees: Bill Clinton , Isabelle Allende , Bill Gates , Frank Gehry, Robert Ballard, Richard Branson, Richard Dawkins, Jared Diamond, Dave Eggers, Jane Goodall, Malcolm Gladwell, Brian Greene, Stephen Hawking...get the idea? 2. Second to these are the videos at Stock Exchange of Visions . These are to the TED talks as the iPad is to a laptop - short, sweet, stylish, and to the point (if lacking in details). Great minds get on video and talk for 30 seconds or so about their view for the planet - some times bewildering, sometime...

Time to do the Texas Two-Step

Alright, people. The day is here: March 4th. Date of the Texas primary elections. Remember, y'all, it's a two-step process: Primary THEN caucus. Find out more about the Texas Voting Process here. Find your polling place. Find your caucus place. And on March 4, 2008, do the right thang. A lot of people worked very hard to make sure you were able to vote today, people. Don't waste it. And in case you're undecided? Here is this:

Yes, We Can

Do I even need words?

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

It's a good day. I recommend you celebrate today by doing what I like to do: listen to the I Have A Dream Speech , delivered in 1963 from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, and believe in America, in yourself, and in the human spirit again. If you like video , see the man speak here.

Do something nice for a change.

It's fast, it's easy, and brilliantly, it's fun . Play a word game, get free rice. You can test your knowledge and make a cost-free donation to charity all at once. Don't be prick, just go ahead and do it. Kill some time doing something nice for a change, instead of reading about why Britney should lose her kids for the millionth time . ( Editor's Note: Go Team Child Protective Services! ) Come on. You know your parents didn't pay for that liberal-arts education for nothing.
